Policing services in Central Elgin are provided by the Ontario Provincial Police through a contract with the Municipality.

community policing office signThe Elgin Group Police Services Board oversees the provision of police services, including law enforcement and crime prevention, in the Municipality of Central Elgin and the other five Elgin municipalities which contract with the OPP. Mayor Tom Marks has been selected by Central Elgin Council to sit on the Police Services Board.

Community Policing
The Port Stanley Community Policing Committee and the Belmont & Area Community Policing Committee have been established to enable the OPP and the community to work together to solve public safety concerns in Port Stanley and the Belmont area.

The Municipality has provided the Port Stanley Community Policing Committee with an office in the C.A. Bell Medical Centre at the corner of Bridge and Colborne streets. The Belmont & Area Community Policing Office is located in the HUB building, 14090 Belmont Road. 

Councillor Dan McNeil represents the Municipality on the Port Stanley Community Policing Committee. Councillor Rob McFarlan represents the Municipality on the Belmont & Area Community Policing Committee.
