Development Charges Study

Watson & Associates updated Central Elgin's Development Charges Study to reflect updates to capital infrastructure, primarily for Fire Services and Wastewater Services in Port Stanley.

Council will consider the study at a public meeting on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 6:25 p.m.  Formal notice will be provided, as per the Development Charges Act.

Hawk Cliff Road Closure - Tuesday May 30

As part of the Hawk Cliff Slope Stabilization project preliminary engineering work, localized drilling will be starting to collect soil and water samples that will inform future design and construction specifications.

During this field work, Hawk Cliff Road will be closed on Tuesday May 30th, 2017, for the entire day.

Time Capsules

Commemorate Canada’s 150th anniversary by purchasing a time capsule!  Keep your memories preserved for future generations in a 10.2" stainless steel capsule.

The capsules will be placed in a precast vault in the fall at the new Tourism/Washroom building in Port Stanley.

A plaque will indicate that the vault is to be opened at Canada's bicentennial anniversary in 2067.

Plains Baptist Church Donation to Central Fire Safety Program

The Plains Baptist Church Social Committee donated $1000 to the Central Elgin Fire Rescue’s new Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm Program with the proceeds from their recent pancake supper.

Central Elgin Fire Rescue is kicking off a Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm Program.  Over the summer months, firefighters will visit homes in the municipality to check smoke alarms for free. They will also install any alarms or batteries required to bring residences up to code.

The Municipality of Central Elgin is constructing new sanitary sewers on the south-east corner of Bridge Street and Carlow Road in Port Stanley.

To facilitate the installation of new sewers, the groundwater table needed to be lowered in the area of excavation by “dewatering” the site with well points.

Leaf and Yard Waste Update

Leaf and yard waste will be picked up this week, but not necessarily on the same day as garbage.

Leave the waste on the roadside and note that pickup starts Wednesday.

May 8-26, it will be picked on on scheduled garbage collection days.
