Port Stanley Port Facility Feasibility Study and Business Plan
Municipal Council is pleased to release the results of a comprehensive feasibility study and business plan prepared by N. Barry Lyons Consultants that describes what Port Stanley Harbour will look like and how it will operate under local control.
Key parts of the preferred option are:
• significant public open space with a passive recreational waterfront focus
• a public boat launch
• a community hall/Stork Club
• 20 slips for visiting boaters
• dredging depth to suit recreational and commercial fishing activities

The report calls for capital improvements to make Port Stanley Harbour a more attractive, self-sustaining, and a regional recreational and leisure destination. The price tag for these improvements is expected to be $24.3 Million. An additional $6 million is needed to create a fund for dredging the harbour.
It is the view of our consultants that a $30 million contribution from Transport Canada will launch the redevelopment of Port Stanley Harbour in a way that ensures the harbour is not a burden on local taxpayers.
“With appropriate funding, the new park and associated facilities will make the waterfront more attractive and accessible, strengthen Port Stanley as a recreational/tourism destination, and make the village the centrepiece for the Municipality of Central Elgin to grow and prosper,” stated Mayor Sylvia Hofhuis
