Building Inspections

Building Inspectors review constructions projects to ensure the work complies with the Building Code and approved plans. Inspectors may visit several times, depending on the project; they must be able to see the part of the work under inspection. Inspectors require a minimum of 48 hours notice to book an inspection.

The building permit holder is responsible for ensuring that notice for an inspection is given to the municipality for each stage of construction, as required by the Ontario Building Code and indicated on the building permit.

Booking An Inspections

To book an inspection contact the building department coordinator below.

Office hours are: Monday - Friday from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.

Inspections May Include:

  1. Excavation and readiness to construct footings;
  2. Completion of sewers drains and service pipes prior to backfill or covering;
  3. Completion of foundation and drain tile and readiness to backfill;
  4. Completion of the framing of each storey of a building;
  5. Roughing-in of plumbing (water distribution, drainage, waste and venting);
  6. Completion of insulation and vapour barriers;
  7. Roughing-in of ductwork for heating and air-conditioning systems;

  9. Completion of fire separations and fire protection and detection systems;
