Garbage tags are required in the Municipality of Central Elgin. You are given a certain amount for free for the year, if you go over that amount, you are welcomed to purchase more tags (details below)

Please note:

  • Garbage tags are only valid for the year they are issued.
  • All 2021 Garbage Tags are YELLOW in colour (This colour is not unique to your collection day).

Garbage Tag Allocation

The Municipality of Central Elgin will be transitioning from the garbage tag program to a garbage cart collection system as of Summer 2021. Tags are to be used until the cart program is implemented. There will be no changes to recycling collection.

The number of allowable bags will depend on your property. For 2021:

  • Residential properties receive 42 tags/year
  • Commercial properties receive 91 tags/year
  • Agricultural properties with a valid registration number receive an additional 19 tags/year
