Recycling is collected every week on your scheduled collection day.  Use a blue box or other container; clear blue bags are not accepted.

Recycling makes a difference - it's better for the environment, it leaves space in landfills, it saves money, and it creates jobs.

Below are a few tips to keep in mind when recycling:

  • Sorting Recyclables: when recycling is not done right, it costs taxpayers extra
  • Use Two Blue Boxes: separate paper products from containers
  • Even More Can be Recycled: know the acceptable recyclable materials
  • What Doesn't Belong: know common recycling errors

The Community Recycling Centre at 330 South Edgeware Road in St. Thomas also accepts recycling from Central Elgin residents.

Why Wasn't My Recycling Picked Up?
Your blue box may not have been collected if:
  • your recycling was not out by 7:00 a.m., and you missed the truck
  • the recycling was not separated properly
  • the blue box contained non-recyclable material
  • dogs were running loose and the workers couldn't safely collect, or
  • the garbage was not in plain view of the truck driver.

When possible, the drive will leave a tag explaining why your recycling was not picked up.

Please correct problem and set it out for collection the following week.

If you believe that there was an error, please contact our office.
