In 2012, the Municipality of Central Elgin partnered with other local municipalities to develop the Elgin-St. Thomas Active Transportation Initiative.

This is a long-term strategy to develop a pedestrian and cycling environment that will encourage both travel by walking or cycling, while promoting active lifestyles for residents and tourists.

Planning for active transportation makes our community healthier and safer. It reduces pollution and can save residents thousands of dollars in transportation costs.
