Road Safety and Traffic Calming in Central Elgin

The Municipality of Central Elgin is committed to improving road safety for everyone who uses our roads, including drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users.

Speed management and traffic calming are ongoing priorities. Central Elgin regularly monitors traffic conditions, collects and analyzes traffic data, considers community feedback and reviews road criteria to help identify road safety concerns and determine where speed management and traffic calming measures may be appropriate.

Following a review of recent traffic calming initiatives, resident feedback, and direction from Central Elgin Council, the Municipality is launching a pilot traffic calming program in 2026.

The pilot program will introduce a variety of speed management and traffic calming measures at locations across Central Elgin. The goal is to encourage safer driving behaviours, help manage vehicle speeds, and improve road safety for all users.

Visit our Road Safety and Traffic Calming webpage to learn more about the pilot program, where measures are being installed, and how their effectiveness will be monitored and evaluated. While you're there, we'd also like to hear your feedback. Your input, along with traffic data, will help inform future road safety improvements.
Road safety is a shared responsibility. Thank you for helping keep Central Elgin's roads safe for everyone.
