Port Stanley Business Improvement Area

A Business Improvement Area or BIA represents a group of property and business owners within a defined geographic area who collectively develop, promote and protect the commercial viability of the area. A BIA is established through municipal by-law and is governed under The Municipal Act, Sub-Sections 204-215.

The Port Stanley Business Improvement Area is the only BIA in the Municipality of Central Elgin and plays an important role in developing and sustaining its business area. Its efforts include the promotion of the businesses within the BIA through various media including business directories, online marketing, and radio and physical advertisements.

The BIA sponsors several community events and works diligently with its community partners to collectively develop and implement strategies to improve the Village.

Committee Members

The BIA is governed by a Board of Management, whose members are elected by the BIA membership to serve four-year terms in alignment with the municipal Council term. One Member of Council is also appointed to serve on the Board. Current membership:

The Port Stanley BIA recognizes the many benefits that local organizations and volunteers provide to the local business community by holding and promoting events in the Village. The Board of Management is committed to applying a consistent, fair, and equitable approach to all requests for event sponsorship support. To make a request for event sponsorship, please complete an application and email to the BIA Secretary.
