Due to the Orange Air Quality Warning issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada, lifeguards are not on duty today, Friday, July 17 at Port Stanley Main Beach.

Effective as of Thursday, July 16, a fire ban is in effect in Central Elgin. 

This fire ban is being implemented due to ongoing poor air quality conditions resulting from wildlife smoke. 

Due to the Orange Air Quality Warning issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada, lifeguards are not on duty today, Thursday July 16 at Port Stanley Main Beach.

The Municipality of Central Elgin is pleased to announce that the Official Plan Amendment (OPA) for the former St. Thomas Psychiatric Hospital Lands (the Hospital Lands) has received Elgin County approval, an important step for one of the municipality's most significant redevelopment opportunities.

Southwestern Public Health issues extreme heat warnings when Environment Canada forecasts temperatures that are expected to be at least 31°C and overnight temperatures are at or above 20°C for two days or the Humidex is forecasted to be at least 40°C for two days.

Beginning this weekend, lifeguards are back on duty at Port Stanley Main Beach, marking the start of another summer beach season in Central Elgin. 

Lifeguards will supervise designated swimming areas daily through Labour Day weekend, helping residents and visitors enjoy a safe summer along the Lake Erie shoreline.

Central Elgin is seeking concession vendors to operate at the Belmont Arena and Port Stanley Arena.
