PORT STANLEY, ON – Today, representatives from the Government of Ontario and the Municipality of Central Elgin gathered to celebrate a significant investment in flood mitigation and climate resilience in Port Stanley, aimed at reducing flood risk for homeowners and safeguarding residents, businesses and community assets.

Central Elgin Council has approved funding for 11 local projects and initiatives through the 2026 Community Grant and Sponsorship Program, providing a total of $25,000 in support across the municipality.

The program, now in its second year, provides financial and in-kind support to community groups and not-for-profit organizations that strengthen community life in Central Elgin.

The Municipality of Central Elgin is introducing a new reduced-rate seasonal parking pass to provide residents with more affordable access to parking in Port Stanley.

The resident seasonal parking pass is available exclusively to Central Elgin residents at a cost of $65.

What is a CIP:

A Community Improvement Plan (CIP) is an economic development tool used by municipalities
in Ontario to guide strategic investment, development, and revitalization initiatives that support the physical improvement of a municipality or areas within a municipality. The Elgincentives CIP was adopted in 2015, and after more than a decade of supporting community improvement across Elgin County, the County has undertaken a review.

Municipal Office Closure

The Municipal Office will be closed on Monday, February 16 and will reopen on Tuesday, February 17 at 8:30 a.m.

Central Elgin Council has taken a significant step toward the future of the former Psychiatric Hospital Lands by approving the Final Policy Directions and Land Use Plan, along with the Draft Official Plan Amendment (OPA) for public consultation. This milestone sets the stage for creating a vibrant, inclusive, and connected new community on the site.
