Canada Day 2026
Wednesday, July 1 – Celebrate Canada Day in Belmont
Festivities begin with an Auxiliary OPP bicycle safety and obstacle course, followed by a decorated bike parade, lunch, cake, face painting and balloon artists at the Don Yeck Park Pavilion. The celebration wraps up with a spectacular fireworks show at dusk.

Celebrate Safely: Fireworks & Noise By-law Reminder
Personal fireworks are only permitted on Wednesday, July 1, between dusk and midnight.
Fireworks can be dangerous if not handled responsibly. Weather conditions should always be taken into consideration, and a water hose or pail of water should be kept nearby.
• Make sure you are not close to houses, trees, cars, overhead wires, or dry grass
• Keep onlookers a safe distance away from the area where the fireworks are discharged

Holiday Waste Collection
There will be no garbage or recycling collection on Wednesday, July 1. If your regular collection day is Wednesday, it will be moved to Tuesday, June 30. If your regular collection is on Tuesday, collection will happen on Monday, June 29. All other days remain unchanged. Visit our website to check your schedule. Please have garbage carts out before 7 a.m.
Municipal Office Closure
The Municipal Office at 450 Sunset Drive will be closed Wednesday, July 1 and will reopen Thursday, July 2 at 8:30 a.m. If you have an urgent matter, call 519-631-4860 and follow the prompts.
