National Public Works Week - Thank You Waste Management

During this National Public Works Week, we'd like to thank our diligent Waste Management crew, for all they do throughout the year.

This small team of 3 ensures that every resident in Central Elgin has their garbage and recycling collected every week, regardless of the weather. They also run a Leaf and Yard Waste program twice a year in addition to their regular collection routes.

Fun Fact:

Over the past 2 years we've been able to achieve a waste diversion rate of 50%, which was our goal for 2030!

Diverting waste by recycling and composting can help reduce the impact of solid waste on the environment. Currently, most garbage collected for disposal ends up in landfills and a small amount is incinerated.
