The Municipality of Central Elgin is pleased to announce the launch of the 2026 Community Grant and Sponsorship Program, with applications now being accepted until March 31, 2026.
The program supports local community groups and not-for-profit organizations through financial and in-kind assistance. For 2026, Council has approved $25,000 through the Municipal Budget to support community grants and sponsorships.

“This program continues to demonstrate Council’s commitment to investing in the organizations and volunteers who help make Central Elgin such a vibrant and connected community,” said Mayor Andrew Sloan. “We’re proud to support initiatives that bring residents together, enhance quality of life, and contribute to the overall wellbeing of our municipality.”

This year, applications will be administered by the Elgin-St. Thomas Community Foundation through a new partnership that will enhance the user experience using the Foundation’s grant administration software. This streamlined process will make it easier for organizations to apply and track their submissions.

Support is available through three streams:

Grant

One-time financial contributions provided to eligible organizations or initiatives for specific projects that benefit the community and are inclusive of all residents. This may include capital projects that deliver infrastructure not already owned or maintained by the Municipality. Maximum: $5,000

Sponsorship

Financial assistance to eligible organizations requesting support for operations, capacity-building efforts, or community-focused activities. Maximum: $5,000

In-Kind Contributions

Non-monetary resources provided to a project, organization, or program that would otherwise be used for regular municipal operations. Examples include use of Municipal facilities, equipment, materials, or staff time. Maximum: $2,000

All applications will be evaluated based on available Municipal resources, financial impact, alignment with community priorities, inclusivity, and overall benefit to residents.

Following the application deadline, a report outlining eligible submissions will be presented to Central Elgin Council for consideration and final funding decisions.

Application guidelines and full eligibility criteria are available on the Municipality’s website. All submissions must be received by 4:30 p.m. on March 31, 2026.
