The Port Stanley Main Beach has once again raised the Blue Flag this summer!

Last week, the flag was raised by Councillor Halpin beside the Main Beach Pavilion, marking the start of another amazing beach season. This is the 13th consecutive year that our beloved main beach has received this prestigious recognition.

Fun fact: Port Stanley was actually the very first beach on Lake Erie to be granted this remarkable award way back in 2010!

Curious about what it takes for a beach to receive such an honuor? Well, let us fill you in! To earn this designation, beaches must meet rigorous international standards in water quality, environmental management, environmental education, safety, and services. Central Elgin has successfully met all 33 criteria!

What does the Blue Flag represent:
It signifies that our beach is not only clean and well-managed but also upholds the highest safety standards. This flag serves as a powerful symbol of our commitment to sustainability and preserving our beautiful shoreline.

The Blue Flag program is administered by Swim Drink Fish Canada and internationally managed by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).

We want to take this moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has contributed to maintaining this standard of excellence. From our hardworking staff to our dedicated beach visitors, your efforts have truly made a difference! Let's continue to treasure and protect our pristine beach.
