Effective today, Friday, April 8, The Municipality of Central Elgin has officially ended the municipal State of Emergency that was put in place since March 21, 2020.
We recognize that the last two years have been exceptionally challenging for our residents. We are truly thankful to the local health and social service providers, essential service workers, community volunteers, neighbours, and friends who have been there day after day, providing care, support, and acts of service during these difficult times. Your self-sacrifices saved lives and kept people out of the hospital.
As provincial regulations continue to ease in the coming weeks, we encourage residents to enjoy everything that our communities have to offer while remaining safe. We are relieved, like most residents, to see how far we have come in the last few weeks, and we are eager to get back to our lives.
It is important to remember that, even though things are improving, the pandemic is far from over. Residents are still advised to take precautions in order to protect themselves and reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. Receiving a third vaccine dose, practicing physical distancing when possible, wearing masks, and engaging in outside activities rather than indoor activities are among these approaches.
Thank you once again, and please stay safe.
