NOTICE OF ADOPTION

CONCERNING PROPOSED OFFICIAL PLAN AMENDMENT

Municipality of Central Elgin New Official Plan

 

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Central Elgin passed By-law No. 2732 on the 18th day of August, 2022 pursuant to Sections 17 and 26 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990 as amended.

The Municipality of Central Elgin prepared a new Official Plan to ensure that the land use planning policies are current, reflect updated Provincial policy and legislation, and reflect changing community needs for the next 25-years. The update applies to all lands within the municipality.

The Official Plan is a land use planning document that includes a vision, goals, and land use policy directions for the Municipality. It provides a policy framework for topics such as resource and growth management, the provision of community and physical services, protection of the environment and human health and safety, economic development and asset management. The Official Plan recognizes the matters of local land use planning interest while also ensuring that the policies are consistent with the 2020 Provincial Policy Statement and conform to the County of Elgin Official Plan.

In coming to its decision, Council took into consideration, the planning reports prepared by staff, the submissions made by the public, agencies, and First Nations throughout the consultation and engagement process, and the written and oral comments received by the public at the Public Open Houses and Public Meeting.

AND TAKE NOTICE the new Official Plan requires approval from the County of Elgin. Any person or public body will be entitled to receive notice of the decision of the County of Elgin, if a written request to be notified of the decision is made to the following:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION relating to the adopted Official Plan is available for inspection daily, Monday to Friday, 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the Municipal Offices and at the Central Elgin Planning Office, 9 Mondamin Street, St. Thomas, or at the project web site at: https://www.letstalkcentralelgin.ca/official-plan-review.
