Municipality of Central Elgin

Notice Regarding Noise Exemption

Regarding Harbour Dredging

NOTICE is hereby given that Council of the Municipality of Central Elgin has granted an exemption to By-law No. 212, being a By-law to control noise in the Municipality of Central Elgin to complete a 24 hour dredging project, that will be taking place between July 1, 2023 and January 1, 2024.

The main purpose is to allow for 24 hour construction practices for the purpose of dredging the Port Stanley Harbour. The ability to undertake the dredging works on a continual 24 hour per basis could result in significant cost saving to the project and financially benefit Central Elgin Tax Payers.

ADDITONAL INOFORMATION In the event of poor weather conditions (i.e. fog), where audible signals would need to be used by vessels leaving the harbour, The Municipality of Central Elgin would instruct contractors to comply with the Noise By-law No. 212 and cease operation between the hours of 8pm of one day to 6am of the next day, until such conditions allow for work to be completed without the use of audible signals.

DATED on March 28, 2023
