The Municipality of Central Elgin and the Central Elgin Fire Rescue are proud to officially open the Municipality's newest Fire Station!

Located at 4980 Sunset Drive, this station is the first net zero energy fire station in Canada! It extends our established high level of fire service with prompt response times to our expanding community in this area.

The facility measures approximately 10,000 sq ft. Heating is supplied by a geothermal system and hydro is provided by solar panels that are installed on carport structures of the parking lot. This is the first fire station in Canada that is completely identified as “net zero energy”. This building is the new home for Central Elgin Fire Rescue's pumper, rescue and Arial platform.

The project was funded through the Green Municipal Fund (GMF).
