– The Municipality of Central Elgin is pleased to announce the launch of a new Community Grant and Sponsorship Program, with applications being accepted now through August 15.

This new initiative is designed to support local community groups and not-for-profit organizations through financial and in-kind assistance. The program carefully balances the responsible stewardship of public funds with support for a wide range of volunteer and community-based groups that are fundamental to promoting and improving upon the social, cultural, and economic wellbeing of the community. It supports projects and initiatives that benefit the community and are inclusive of all residents.

For 2025, Council has approved a total allocation of $50,000 to support community grants and sponsorships.

“This program reflects Council’s commitment to supporting the volunteer and community-based organizations that are essential to quality of life in Central Elgin,” said Mayor Andrew Sloan. “By investing in local non-profit groups, we’re investing in the heart of our community and supporting the projects, programs and initiatives that bring people together and help build a stronger, more connected municipality.”

Support is available through the following three streams:

  • Grant: One-time financial contributions provided to eligible organizations or initiatives for specific projects that benefit the community and are inclusive of all residents. This may include capital projects that deliver infrastructure not already owned or maintained by the Municipality.
    Maximum: $5,000
  • Sponsorship: Financial assistance to eligible organizations or initiatives requesting support for operations, capacity-building efforts, or community-focused activities.
    Maximum: $5,000
  • In-Kind Contributions: Non-monetary resources provided to a project, organization, or program that would otherwise be used for regular operations of the Municipality. Examples include use of Municipal facilities, equipment, materials, or staff time.
    Maximum: $2,000

All requests will be assessed based on the availability of Municipal resources, potential financial impact to the Municipality, contribution to the well-being of community members, inclusivity to all residents, and overall community impact.

Following the application period, a report outlining all eligible applications will be submitted to Central Elgin Council in September for their decision on funding allocation.

The program is a pilot initiative for 2025. Funding for 2026 and beyond will be considered as part of the Municipality’s annual budget process.

Application guidelines and full eligibility criteria are available at on the Municipality's website. All submissions must be received by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025.
