2023 Municipal Budget

Council is currently in the process of adopting the 2023 Budget.

The proposed budget has been developed with a commitment to ensuring the municipality can continue to maintain existing levels of service to our community while minimizing the impact of tax increases on residents and businesses.

Council will be in deliberations next month (which will be streamed live) prior to adoption.

Old Pumpkins & Corn Stalks = Leaf & Yard Waste Program

Don't let those old jack-o'-lanterns haunt you! You can put pumpkins, straw, corn stalks and plant material in with your yard waste for the Leaf and Yard Waste Collection Program!We will be picking up in built up areas of Central Elgin on the following dates:

  • Monday, November 7
  • Monday, November 14
  • Monday, November 21

For residents who do not live in built up areas of Central Elgin. You may take your leaves to St. Thomas Recycling (330 South Edgeware Road).Please remember:

Please remember this coming Monday our Leaf & Yard Waste Program starts ! We will be picking up in built up areas of Central Elgin on the following dates:

  • Monday, November 7

Fall Leaf & Yard Waste Program Starts Monday, October 31!

We will be picking up in built up areas of Central Elgin on the following dates: Monday, October 31 Monday, November 7 Monday, November 14 Monday, November 21 For residents who do not live in built up areas of Central Elgin. You may take your leaves to St. Thomas Recycling (330 South Edgeware Road). Please remember:

  • All leaves must be in biodegradable paper yard waste bags and on the curb by 7am (Plastic bags will not be accepted)
  • Limbs and branches must be bundled in lengths of 1 metre or less.

Central Elgin - In October 2021 and again in October 2022, the Municipality of Central Elgin Fire Rescue Services worked with the Asset Management & Development Services Department and the Infrastructure & Community Services Department to review and evaluate the fire department’s ability to continuously provide shuttled water in excess of the minimum requirement of a municipal fire hydrant as part of the Fire Underwriters Survey Superior Tanker Shuttle Certification.
