Significant Weather Event Declaration
(Pursuant to s.16.9 of O.reg. 239/02 amended)
As of 9 p.m. Thursday, December 5, the Municipality of Central Elgin is declaring a Significant Weather Event in respect to lake effect snow. The Significant Weather Event Declaration will continue until further notice.
Users of roads and sidewalks in the Municipality are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and to use caution if doing so.

On Friday, November 15 the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) commenced a work stoppage, impacting Canada Post services. During this stoppage, Canada Post has not been picking up, processing or delivering any mail.
The Municipality is reminding residents that they are responsible for paying water utility and property tax bills on time, even if they do not receive these bills in the mail. Payments not received on time will be subject to penalties and interest.

Snow Squall Warning in effect for: St. Thomas - Aylmer - Eastern Elgin County
Snow squalls expected today and tonight. Hazards: Locally heavy snowfall with accumulations of 20 to 30 cm by Friday morning. Peak snowfall rates of 3 to 6 cm per hour. Strong northwesterly winds gusting up to 70 km/h today. Very poor to nil visibility at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.
